The low-cost notebook or netbook market helped increase Intel's and Via's share of the worldwide x86 microprocessor market in the second quarter of 2008, says a study by Mercury Research. The demand for low-cost laptops also increased as HP, Lenovo, Acer and Asus brought new netbooks to the market.
