President Bush signed the so-called “VOIP-911 Bill” into law last week, a step toward ensuring VOIP users have the same protections and access to 911 systems as landlines. The new law ensures 911 service is available during an emergency whether the call comes from a VOIP or traditional phone company; SAP CEO Henning Kagermann told analysts and investors last week, that SAP could actually benefit from a rough economy. SAP reported a solid second quarter and global economic turmoil could be helping, SAP CEO Henning Kagermann. Business software makers like SAP are less likely to suffer from a weakening economy, SAP CEO Henning Kagermann said, because their products are designed to help companies become more efficient and save costs; Intel will sell 500,000 Classmate PCs to Portugal for elementary school students nationwide. Intels Classmate customer win nearly matches the total number of XO Notebooks sold by rival OLPC (One Laptop per Child); and the next Silicon valley startup could be built on Google cash.
